Clay Birds, Toronto, Canada

This photo is from an old camera and was taken a lifetime ago. The camera long gone, but I’ve kept the image for years because I loved the composition and the colour. This series of small, South American ceramic birds was incongruously displayed at the University of Toronto Robarts library. Anyone who’s ever been inside Robarts know that small, beautiful and artful are not adjectives much in use in that brutalist library. It was a nice surprise.
