I was disappointed to hear that Honest Ed’s will be torn down, making way for yet another soulless Toronto condo building. I hardly recognise my city anymore, and I’m disappointed we don’t do more to protect our cultural heritage, even if that heritage is a gaudy, incandescent display on a busy street corner. I’m clearly not the only one who feels this way – this image is the basis of one of my most popular pieces, and in recognition of that I’ve got some colour versions in the works. Ed’s, we hardly knew ye.
